Sculpture Exhibition 1st February to 17th February
Accompanying the exhibition, the sculptors on display held a demonstration event in the inner courtyard. Working with power tools is noisy, but faster. More traditional hand tools gave us time to talk to visitors. Each of the sculptors here also exhibits work in the gallery, often with works in various media, demonstrating the breadth of sculptural expression. The gallery's intimate staircase gives us the opportunity to exhibit work in a variety of mediums and styles - notably John Wooller, who introduces a departure from his beautifully carved and twisted wood and offers us a variety of wrought metal sculptures - two of the many models available for larger commissions. .
Images of the statue will eventually be available on the Victoria Sculpture Association 's website. Following this exhibition, the artists will prepare works for the Melbourne International Flower and Gardens Exhibition – another place to see outdoor garden sculptures – and once again protesters will come out in large numbers.
