Paper Weaving (with templates)
I'm so excited to share this resource I've been working on with you!
When I saw some very beautiful paper fabrics on Instagram, it inspired me to create my own! So I googled basket weaving maps and then used them to manage paper weaving.
That's when it hit! What if there were designs or patterns created specifically for paper weaving that would also be easier for younger kids?! Note: I would recommend this to students who have experience weaving paper. I will not use it to learn the technique for the first time.
yes !!
To use these designs, simply print them out on plain, font-sized paper (I recommend Astrobrights cards ), then weave duck stripes so they cover the crosses and fit into the empty squares.
Very simple!
Watch this video that shows how to use paper knitting charts:
I put my stuff in a folder that would be perfect for an art center or even for someone who finished early and needed something fun and exciting while others were done.
The cover consists of several sections:
1. Instructions
2. Index of patterns (all patterns are shown in the binder)
3. Patterns of fabrics (covered)
4. Student projects
5. Instructions for creating designs and converting them to models (will be included in the hall of fame folder)
Watch this video that shows me how to set up my link:
My favorite part of the binder is the Student Project section. What better way to motivate students to do their best with the promise of glory in the art room! :)
