Contemporary by Nature - Opening 28th February
On behalf of the President and Board of the Victoria Inc Contemporary Art Society . We would like to invite you to visit our ninth exhibition, Natural Contemporary : Interpretation of the Natural World, part of Herring Island , an exhibition of art by members of the CAS. Summer Art Festival 2015 .
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Councilor John McMurray, Stunnington City Council (East District Council). Come join us for a meal at the inaugural art exhibition on Saturday, February 28 at the Herring Island Gallery from 12:00 to 14:00.
If you are unable to attend the opening, our fair is open every weekend, including Staff Day, Monday, March 9. The gallery is open from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Exhibition dates: 28 February, 1, 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15 February 2015 .
In this exhibition, both established and new contemporary artists have explored many aspects of nature through a variety of artistic avenues! Each day of the exhibition, a new exhibition artist is “at work” in the gallery. A great opportunity to explore your creativity and the inspiration behind your work.
Contemporary By Nature 2015 includes wrought iron and painted wood carvings, oil paintings on different surfaces, acrylics and watercolors, various media paintings and engravings, photographs and mixed media depicting aspects of nature in different ways. Animals, plants or minerals, land or sea, storms or calm, day or night, light or shadow, there are things that please the eyes, the senses, the imagination. Come and enjoy ....

Herring Island is located in the middle of the Yara River , 3 km from the village. Herring Island Environmental Sculpture Park is a paradise for nature and art lovers. The exhibition takes place in an island gallery. There are several permanent statues made of natural materials that reflect the peaceful atmosphere of the island. The gallery offers free island maps for self-study. There is also a toilet and barbecue area on the island.
Herring Island is accessible from the Como Pier, South Yara (Melways Ref Map 58, G2) via the Parks Victoria Boat Service , which runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Price: $ 2 per person or $ 5 per family, free for retirees, unemployed, and children under 12. You can park your car at Aleksandrovsky Prospekt.
